Wherever you land, arrive as yourself!
~Robyn Balsley
Spring break is approaching.
Which means anticipation… and a suitcase quietly demanding decisions.
Vacation promises restoration.
Yet the days before departure often feel anything but...
Deadlines wrap up.
To-do lists multiply.
Closets unravel.
“Just in case” becomes the strategy.
And somehow, we arrive at the airport already depleted.
Here’s the shift:
You don’t stop being who you are simply because you’re away. Yes, you soften. Yes, you unplug. But your presence remains.
Packing isn’t about having more options. It’s about choosing fewer better ones.
As I prepare for Costa Rica, I’m selecting pieces that travel seamlessly, layer effortlessly, and allow me to relax without losing my style.
Because escaping winter isn’t about excess.
It’s about intention.
Here’s how I build a travel wardrobe with ease:
The Airport Uniform: Comfortable, but Credible~
Airports reveal everything, from pajamas to power dressing.
My rule? Comfortable, never careless.
Think:
• Elevated joggers or relaxed trousers
• Structured knit or soft tee
• A third piece (blazer, denim jacket, or wrap)
• Polished sneakers or refined slides
• A structured tote
You may see a colleague.
You may upgrade your seat.
More importantly, you’ll feel pulled together.
And that matters.

Beauty and Travel Essentials ~
Resort glow > heavy glam.
• Great SPF
• Bronzer, mascara, lip color
• Streamlined carry-on
• Travel pouch + packing cubes
Fresh. Refined. Efficient.
The goal is ease, not excess

The 3-Color Formula ~ Overpacking is usually uncertainty in disguise. Instead: • 2 neutrals • 1 accent color (leopard counts) When everything works together, five core pieces become 10+ outfits. Cohesion eliminates decision fatigue. Confidence loves simplicity. |

Pack with Intention ~
Follow a strategy not a feeling.
Start with the 5-4-3-2-1 method:
• 5 tops
• 4 bottoms
• 3 pairs of shoes (one you will wear on the plane)
• 2 dresses or skirts
• 1 set of accessories
For a beach getaway, add:
• Swimsuit + chic coverup
• Lightweight evening layer
Look at your itinerary, check the weather and then plan your outfits.
Try everything on in advance. Be sure it fits and feels good.
Pack from clarity, not the night before.

The 2-Shoe Rule ~
Shoes take up space physically and visually.
For most warm-weather trips:
• One elevated sandal
• One versatile flat
Wear your sneakers on the plane.
Three pairs. That’s enough.
If a shoe only works with one outfit, it stays home.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about alignment. When your wardrobe supports who you are, you move differently; prepared, grounded, confident. What you wear influences mood, creativity, and clarity. That doesn’t disappear just because there’s sand involved. Intentional style isn’t about being overdressed. It’s about being fully yourself... anywhere. As I zip up my suitcase for Costa Rica, I’m not packing more. I’m packing pieces that work hard, travel well, and allow me to relax without losing my edge.
